AIPTO
How It Works
AIPTO is the world's first dedicated registry for AI intellectual property. Understanding our process ensures your filing is taken seriously and protected correctly.
What AIPTO Protects
AIPTO provides cryptographic proof of ownership and prior existence for AI-native intellectual property including:
- —AI prompts and system instructions that power proprietary applications
- —Logic workflows and multi-step AI agent architectures
- —Proprietary fine-tuning methodologies and training data structures
- —Trade secrets embedded in AI system design
- —Custom AI personas, behavioral frameworks, and response logic
Important Disclaimer
AIPTO registration does not constitute a legal patent or trademark under U.S. or international law. AIPTO certificates serve as prima facie evidence of prior existence and ownership under trade secret doctrine, specifically the Uniform Trade Secrets Act (UTSA) and TRIPS Article 39. We strongly recommend consulting a licensed IP attorney for full legal protection.
The Registration Process
Create Your Account
Sign up with your email or Google account. Your identity is cryptographically tied to every registration you make. All registrations are permanent records associated with your account.
Submit Your IP
Enter your prompt, workflow, or AI logic into the secure registration form. Your plaintext is never stored — only a SHA-256 cryptographic hash is retained. Not even AIPTO can see what you submitted.
Semantic Similarity Check
Our system automatically scans the entire AIPTO registry for conceptually similar existing registrations using AI-powered semantic analysis. This check happens instantly before any payment is processed.
Payment
If no conflict is found, you proceed to payment. Standard registration is $350. If a conflict is detected, the conflict review fee is $850. Payment is required before your certificate is issued.
Certificate Issued
Upon successful payment, your Certificate of IP Registration is issued instantly with a unique Certificate ID, SHA-256 fingerprint, and UTC timestamp. This is your proof of ownership.
Conflict Review Process
When your submission shows 90% or greater semantic similarity to an existing registration, it is flagged for conflict review. This is a serious legal process and should be treated as such.
Conflict Detected
You are shown a functional summary of your submission alongside the existing registration. The actual prompt text of the existing registration is never revealed — only its functional description.
Differentiation Statement
You must submit a written statement explaining specifically how your IP differs in function, methodology, domain, or application from the existing registration. Vague or weak differentiation statements will be rejected.
Conflict Review Fee
A $850 conflict review fee is charged upfront. This fee covers specialist and legal team review time, semantic analysis reporting, and due diligence. This fee is non-refundable regardless of outcome.
Specialist Review
Your case is reviewed by AIPTO's specialist and legal team. Review typically takes 5 business days. You will be notified by email of the decision.
Decision
If approved, your registration is added to the registry and your certificate is issued. If rejected, your registration is denied. In either case, the $850 fee is non-refundable.
Fee Schedule
Standard Registration
No conflict detected — instant certificate
Conflict Review Filing
90%+ similarity detected — specialist review required
Maintenance Declaration (Year 5-6)
Required to keep registration active
Renewal Filing (Every 10 Years)
Required to maintain long-term protection
Grace Period Filing
$325 renewal + $250 late surcharge
No Refund Policy
All AIPTO filing fees are non-refundable. This policy mirrors the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) standard, which does not issue refunds for refused or abandoned applications. Payment of a filing fee is payment for AIPTO's examination and registration process — not a guarantee of approval. By submitting payment you acknowledge and agree to this policy.
Renewal & Maintenance
AIPTO registrations must be actively maintained to remain valid. Failure to file on time will result in permanent cancellation of your registration, freeing your hash for others to claim.
Certificate Issued
Your registration is active. Your dashboard shows your next filing date.
Maintenance Declaration Due
You must file a Maintenance Declaration confirming continued use of your IP. AIPTO will send reminder emails at 6 months, 60 days, and 30 days before the deadline. Fee: $325.
Grace Period
If you miss the maintenance deadline, you enter a 6-month grace period. Filing during this period incurs a $250 surcharge. Total: $575. Miss this and your registration is permanently canceled.
First Renewal Due
Renewal filings are required every 10 years. Same reminder schedule applies. Fee: $325.
Subsequent Renewals
Your registration renews indefinitely as long as you continue to file and pay on time.
If Your IP Is Stolen
Your AIPTO certificate is your primary legal instrument in the event of IP theft or misappropriation.
- —Your certificate provides a timestamped, cryptographically verified record of prior existence
- —The SHA-256 hash proves the exact content of your IP at the time of registration
- —AIPTO's audit logs and blockchain-ready architecture provide chain of custody documentation
- —Our legal team can provide technical affidavits for use in court proceedings upon request
AIPTO recommends retaining a licensed IP attorney to pursue misappropriation claims. Our certificates are designed to support — not replace — legal counsel.
